What is "Perceived Intensity" for Exercise data?

The "Perceived Intensity" rating in the Elite HRV app is used to rate your opinion of how intense a given exercise session was. Most people use the "RPE" or "Relative Perceived Exertion" scale for this rating.

An example of how exercise ratings are used:

  1. Very easy exercise. For some this may be just gently flexing various muscles with no added weight. For others this may be a brisk walk.
  2. Easy
  3. Moderate
  4. Starting to become difficult
  5. Medium difficulty exercise. At level 5, it is very difficult to maintain the exercise for long periods of time.
  6. Very difficult
  7. .
  8. .
  9. Extremely difficult
  10. Maximum effort. A sprint or near max effort event in which the duration is usually short or a competition in which you push past your normal exertion levels.

It's important to note that these ratings are relative to you and your condition and goals. An Olympic sprinter will have a very different perception of intensity than someone managing chronic pain and otherwise trying to be healthy.
