Can I Use the App without a Heart Rate Monitor?
We have released "Research Readings" to a portion of our app user base. Our goal is to learn if measuring HRV by placing your finger over the smartphone camera (also known as finger-over-the-camera) is an accurate and viable alternative to chest straps.
If finger-over-the-camera proves accurate, we'll be able to offer this method to our community, as a convenient, accurate alternative to chest straps.
For the time being, you will not be able to take your HRV with only a mobile device (like a phone or tablet); you also need a compatible heart rate monitor: Compatible Devices
If you wish to simply use the app as a guided breathing pacer, you can do so in a particular area of the app. You'll need to go into the Leah Lagos 10 Week Program in the Biofeedback feature in our app, and then go into the Week 1 setting page.
Tap on the purple button that says "Practice Breathing" You can set up the pace that you'd like to practice and do your breathwork without a sensor.
